chaos theory.

continued from the previous scrawl.

i pull one thin faux-leather album from its place and flip through the pages. to my bewildered surprise, the photos are of me around the age of five or six, some where i am either on the golden gate bridge or in front of buildings and statues i could not recognize. i close the album and return it to its empty slot on the shelf and continue around the living room. more shelves and more books line the walls, including a small computer work station. i retrieve my cell phone and call home immediately. my mother answers, to which i explan my unusual discovery. i ask her if she and my father somehow found the time to move some items from home down to los angeles to fill in my now formerly empty apartment. she assured me that the two of them had no plans to come down prior to summer, but i couldn't tell if she was merely joking for the sake of surprise. i say ok and close my phone, hanging up the call. i walk over to a large table in one corner of the room and notice that it is the same glass-topped dining room table my former housemate had bought sometime ago, however instead of sitting in the corner by my surfboard and chairs, which looked untouched, the table was now on the opposite side of the door. on the glass was a small pile of shoes, looking as if someone had simply taken a box of them and dumped it out in the hurried process of moving in. i pick up one shoe nearest to me from the pile and try to make sense of what had happened in the night. the shoe is a crisp spring green color, high-heeled, open-toed, and it suddenly hits me that i have no idea to who this belongs...

i can believe anything, provided that it is quite incredible.
